Beauty Icons Part Deux

Joining Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Brigitte Bardot and Vivienne Leigh in my beauty hall of fame…

Cindy Crawford

Hands up if you used draw on a fake beauty spot (with black eye liner) ala Cindy Crawford? Who didn’t! The most super of the supers, Cindy owned the catwalk in the 90s – long before zero was a size and super models had to look like young boys. Ok, we might have moved on from brown lip pencil, but other than that Cindy’s look is timeless, and I’m still trying to copy those brows!

Jenifer Lopez

If I could raid just one persons’ make up bag, it would by Jenifer’s. I love her ever evolving beauty – from her signature look –  bronzed skin and nude lips, to her glam 50s pin up look – J-lo’s got it going on in the beauty department. She gives me serious hair envy to boot!

Last, but by no means least, my girl crush numbero uno – Miss Beyonce Knowles. Words don’t do her justice, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking…. Uh oh, Uh oh, Uh oh…Uh oh, Uh oh, Uh oh… you ready?

Check out my other Beauty Icons and let me know who your are!

My Beauty Icons

Coco Chanel famously said “Fashion fades, only style remains”. Few embody this better than these iconic screen Goddesses, whose beauty and style have, and forever will stand the test of time.

Before the days of Tweezerman, mineral make up and airbrushing, Vivienne Leigh oozed beauty and sex appeal and will forever be immortalised in one of my favourite films, Gone With The Wind. As the beautifully devilish Scarlet O’Hara she taught me to embrace my big brows and cheat my way to the flushed look by pinching my cheeks.

Brigitte Bardot, the ultimate 60s sex kitten whose style encapsulates the decade, and is still emulated to this day. Those cute eye liner flicks could be the most coveted make up look in history.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking…

Julia Roberts, a true beauty on and off the screen. Who didn’t fall in love with her in Pretty Woman? That her, those brows, those lips! Utterly stunning in the red dress/red lipstick scenes, it’s no wonder she’s the face of Lancôme.

Angelina Jolie, so many reasons to be envious of her… she’s beautiful, talented and shares a bed with Brad Pitt, but there’s no denying that natural beauty. She rocks the minimal make up look and smoulders on the red carpet.  I recently saw her at the cinema in The Tourist, such was her mesmerising beauty, she distracted me from the fact that the movie wasn’t actually very good. I desperately wanted to pause, zoom in and revise her eye make up.

Jealous, me? HELL YEAH!

Make Up Trends Spring Summer 2011 – Pastels and Chalks

Next on my top picks of this seasons key looks are pastels.

It’s not just lips that are getting a new paint job this season, eyes are being redecorated too. Yet unlike lips, colours aren’t quite so bright, think hues of violet, lemon sorbet and rhubard and custards… and just about anything that sounds like a flower or a candy.

No one showcased it better on the cat walk than Dior…

Don’t be afraid to have fun and experiement with this seasons hottest colours. Lilac suits most complexions, and blues and greens are great for accentuating eye colour – with so many to choose from you’re bound to find one that suits you.

Green was certainly the colourof choice at the golden globes, from Catherine Zeta Jones to Angelia Jolie.

Why not try Maybelline Dream Mousse in Eden Green – the air whipped mousse lets you lightly apply colour without “caking” it!

High Street hero Boots are bang on trend this season. Perfectly demonstrating that you don’t have to spend a fortune to be on trend, the 17 Vintage Love eye shadow palettes £5.49 are the go-to-palettes of the season.

Or update your eye make-up with soft pastel shades from  No7’s Spring Collection Limited Edition Eye Palette, £12.50.

Break out the crayons!
