Hot new Lipstick Alert!

17 have just added a seriously sexy new lipstick range to their collection. Supreme Shine Lipsticks work bold, virant colours with a new, lightweight formula.

Available in 13 beautiful shades – Barely Blush, Bon Bon, Pink Posey, Kissable, Hot Stuff, If You Please, Red Devil, Rich, Bella, Hot Flash, Day-glo, All About the Sass, Deep Secret.

Hot Stuff

For me red lipstick is like chocolate, I know it’s not good for me but I just can’t resist, but in Hot Stuff I think I’ve finally found my perfect red! Blue toned reds don’t suit me, I find they drain the colour from my face. Coral reds and pinkish reds work better on my skin tone. This, I’d describe as a very flattering cherry red. It’s rich, highly pigmented and fairly opaque. The forumla is easy to apply, slides on, a little waxy and very lightweight. The finish is a classic shine, but not sticky or glossy.

Pink Posey

Purples and Plums are so hot right now! Pink Posey is a very wearable pinky purple. It’s bright and bold and my new party season go-to. Like before it’s rich, highly pigmented and fairly opaque. The forumla is easy to apply, slides on, is a little waxy and very lightweight. The only drawback is it doesn’t have the staying power of regular formulas, but it’s a good excuse to whip it out and reapply.

Milan Fashion Week Top Beauty Trends

Honestly I don’t know how the fashionistas keep up with fashion week. Each city’s show’s are so special, oppulent, dramatic, exciting and enticing, why oh why do they have a cram them into a few weeks. As the merry-go round moves on to Paris, here’s a quick round up of the top trends showcased in Milan. Amidst the Galliano scandal, the show fared pretty well, at least in the beauty stakes.

Statement Eye liner

Now there’s a trend I can channel. At D&G lines were thick and jet black, teamed nicely with flawless skin and pale lips, ok I’m reaching for the gel liner right now.

Burgundy Lips

Bright lips were a major makeup trend for spring/summer and you will be pleased to know they are still around for winter, but, rather than hot coral and flaming red, for autumn they take a deeper, more sensual tone.

At Gucci they were Dark and Glossy.

Red wine coloured at Missoni but be careful, it’s a tricky lip to muster without looking old or transvestite-y.

Spider lashes

A look usually seen on young girls that have just discovered mascara. I love, I mean LOVE Mascara and this look works well on Gucci’s sleek catwalk show, but in the real world has the danger of looking tacky and over done.

Eye shadow overload

We saw this look at New York, damn, looks like it’s gonna to stick. Eye shadow stretched from beneath the eye all the way to the eye brows, eek! I can’t see myself going that extreme anytime soon.

Paris, show us what you got?…

London Fashion Week A/W 11 Beauty Trends

As the curtains close on London Fashion week, let’s reflect. What are the key looks we’ll be copying come Autumn? Well, in short, it was all about Pouts, Plats and Pony tails.

Pony tails at Burberry Prorsum

Messy ponytails, alas a look we can all achieve. I hope they didn’t spend long creating this, my hair already looks like this when I wake up.

Although much more polished at Christopher Kane.

Red Lips at Henry Holland

And at Temperly London

Getting a bit repetitive, but those fashionistas can’t give up the crimson.

Plats at Halston

Fishtails at Erdem

Get the London look… Red lips and messy hair, simples.

New York Fashion Week – Autumn/Winter 11-12 Beauty Trends

As New York fashion week closes, let’s take a quick, and I mean quick, look at the beauty looks set to rock our worlds in Autumn/Winter 11-12. I know it’s the way the fashion and beauty biz works, but I kinda resent having to think about winter before spring has even sprung. Still it can’t help to be in the know.

Eye shadow… EVERYWHERE

Under, over and all the way to the brow. Eeek, I’m not sure about this one?!? Reminds me of the eye shadows of yesteryear, it’s the look little girls create when first let loose in their mothers make up bag. More is more, according to Vera Wang,  Philip Lim and Diane von Furstenberg (pictured). So when you get to the crease, just keep going!

Brown Lips

Another I’m not sure about, especially teamed with big, dark eyeshadow. When I was at school, the only lipsticks we had were brown/plumy ones (Rimmel’s Heather Shimmer anyone?) it didn’t look good then and I’m not convinced it will now, but who am I to disagree with Oscar de la Renta! Still brown lips, got to be more wearable than orange ones?

 Crimson pout

Red lips, going nowhere fast, so don’t be afraid to invest in a good un, it’ll see you through to next year at least.

London, over to you.
