Hot new Lipstick Alert!

17 have just added a seriously sexy new lipstick range to their collection. Supreme Shine Lipsticks work bold, virant colours with a new, lightweight formula.

Available in 13 beautiful shades – Barely Blush, Bon Bon, Pink Posey, Kissable, Hot Stuff, If You Please, Red Devil, Rich, Bella, Hot Flash, Day-glo, All About the Sass, Deep Secret.

Hot Stuff

For me red lipstick is like chocolate, I know it’s not good for me but I just can’t resist, but in Hot Stuff I think I’ve finally found my perfect red! Blue toned reds don’t suit me, I find they drain the colour from my face. Coral reds and pinkish reds work better on my skin tone. This, I’d describe as a very flattering cherry red. It’s rich, highly pigmented and fairly opaque. The forumla is easy to apply, slides on, a little waxy and very lightweight. The finish is a classic shine, but not sticky or glossy.

Pink Posey

Purples and Plums are so hot right now! Pink Posey is a very wearable pinky purple. It’s bright and bold and my new party season go-to. Like before it’s rich, highly pigmented and fairly opaque. The forumla is easy to apply, slides on, is a little waxy and very lightweight. The only drawback is it doesn’t have the staying power of regular formulas, but it’s a good excuse to whip it out and reapply.

Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick for Rimmel London

THIS BLOG HAS NOW MOVED, KEEP READING AT http://beautyandlechicblog.blogspot.com/

This lipstick is good! In fact it’s very good! I could happily have taken away the full range. I was tempted with the nude shade for opted for the bright and bold, but disappointedly name 002 – a hot pink, cos let’s face it bold lips are here to stay.

The shade itself is I’d describe as a true fushia pink. For a budget brand, its formula is very impressive and the breakthrough black diamond complex means it reflects like never before. It’s rich, opaque and very highly pigmented – meaning a little goes a long way. I tested it straight from the bullet at first and ended up with it all the place – use a lip brush for more accurate application.

It had serious staying power too, easily withstanding a few drinks. It has a light fruity smell which is an added bonus, my only complaint, the bullet looks shorter than regular lipsticks – have Rimmel scrimped on the gramage?

The closest dupe in my collection is a MUA lipstick – not so much in the bullet but certainly on the skin.

Rimmel Left, MUA right

I thought it would be similar to MAC’s Girl About Town but it’s not as BRIGHT and has less of a blue undertone.

Anyway Mossy’s lippies get a thumbs up from me. Check out the rest of the shades here.

Kate Moss Lipstick Collection for Rimmel

The wait is over! Mossy’s lipticks have hit the highstreet and are going down a storm.

Shades 1,2,3,4,5,8,12

The packaging is seriously sleek and sexy – matt black casing embossed with Kate’s signature. Available in seven rocking shades, including – as many predicted a bright red, as well as shocking pink and a muted nude. The formula is creamy and moisturising, the colours are quite opaque and the finish I’d describe as satin.

For me the stand out shades are are 1 – the classic Red, 2 the fushia Pink and 4 the Gothic, and oh so on trend deep purple.

In Boots stores now £5.45. If you’re unable to choose just one shade, why not take advantage of Boots’ current 3 for 2 promotion.

Beauty Waitlist… Carmex Moisture Plus

It’s Carmex, but not as we know it!

This is one to watch out for, the NEW Carmex Moisture Plus ultra hydrating lip balms that bathe your lips in moisture and leave them kissably soft. Just like the original Carmex we all know and love – but in a handy and very cute stick that adds a hint of sheer colour.

Carmex Moisture Plus contains SPF 15 so it protects your lip from the sun as well making them look and feel great.  The formula contains all the goodness of your usual Carmex, including Vitamin E and Aloe Vera.

The Moisture Plus lipbalms are available in three shares: clear, peach and pink so pucker up and watch out for them hitting boots stores later this month.

RRP £4.49

SUMMER NAILS: Current Top 5

I’ve been having a serious sort out lately (once you start you just can’t stop) and I discovered all sorts of things I forgot I had, love it when that happens! Anyway, I had a good rumage through my nail polishes and selected my top 5 summer nails…

Kindly modelled by my (reluctant) little sister…

No7 Stay Perfect – Very Petal

This is a hot pink, perfect for fingers and toes, very summery. I think No7 polishes are pretty good quality – one or two coats does the job.

Nails Inc – Shoreditch

One of my all time favourite shades. A bold, hot pink that’s incredibly glossy. Similar to the No7 one but a touch more barbie pink. 2 coats with an under and over coat works a treat and lasts ages.

Barry M – Limted Edition Shade 105

The pinky/lilac shade has the WOW factor. So eye catching – it screams summer. The thin, non-glupey consistency makes it a dream to apply….Great value at £2.99. Read full review here.

Nails Inc – Bruton Street

Looks similar to Barry M’s in the pictures but it’s a more milky, beige lilac. Great for everyday sophistication.

Nails Inc – Candy Orange

A break from my traditional pinks and Lilacs, I’m loving this candy orange. Very on trend, summery and came free with this months’ Instyle magazine, yet another reason to love.

Hardly a professional paint job I know, but she’s 12 and CAN’T sit still

Best of… Pink Lip Glosses

Lip gloss is something I’ve loved for years. In fact it was probably my first make up love. I started with Lancome’s Juicy tubes then progressed to everything and anything shiny and glossy. Although I’m increasingly drawn to lipsticks now, I still can’t walk past a make up counter without sampling their latest gloss. My current obsession are nudes and peaches, but for a long time it was all about the pinks. Here’s some I have in my collection….

Left to right

Mac Viva VI Glam Special Edition Lipglass £12.50

I wasn’t sure whether to include this one as it’s at the lilac end of the spectrum, but it’s actually quite a nudey pink when applied. Typical of Mac Lipglasses it’s thick, luxurious and Long lasting, but can be a bit too glupey. BEST FOR: Highlighting a tan

Clinique Long Last Glosswear – Air Kiss (Full Size £14)

I got this sample size gloss free with a Clinique Bonus Time gift, otherwise I wouldn’t have chosen it, but I’m glad I did. This one’s Sheer, Shiny and Sticky. It’s a very pretty, light pink and great over lipstick because it lasts long-time! BEST FOR: Wearing over lipstick

Mac Lipgelee Limited Edition – Bubble Lounge £12.50

This one’s special. Creamy, shiny, shimmery and luxurious. It’s a light nudey pink with a creamy, frosty finish. Long lasting but not sticky, smells great too. Whenever I whip it out on a night out it’s quickly snatched off me and passed around. BEST FOR: Maximum impact WOW lips

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Candy Gloss £8

This one’s a light peachy pink that’s heavy on the glitter. It has a heat activated plumping effect for the ultimate pout – don’t worry it doesn’t sting or burn. Nice on its own for a hint of glimmer and has a fabulous vanilla scent. BEST FOR: Plumping

Mac Limited Edition Wonder Woman Collection Lipglass in Emancipation £17

Candy pink with a suitable gold shimmer. It’s sticky long lasting and JUMBO sized. Quite highly pigmented giving it a great coverage. It’s my current number one! BEST FOR: Everything

Clinique Colour Surge Impossibly Glossy – Prettiest Pink

This gloss is the darkest of the bunch, verging on hot pink. It has soft, creamy feel – comfortable to wear and not especially sticky. Has a satin sheen finish. Unfortunately, I think it’s been discontinued now – don’t you hate it when that happens! BEST FOR: Coverage

Pout Plump Lip gloss

Unfortunately Pout cosmetics no longer exists, but you can still pick some of these babies up online. This one’s been in the collection for years and I’m scared to let it run out. It smells and tastes minty with a cooling effect that plumps the lips and with regular use, and claims to increase collagen. That I’m not sure about but the texture is creamy with a sine/satin finish. The medium pink is great for a nice hint of colour without being too bold.  BEST FOR: Plumping

Let me know your recommendation and watch out for my Best Of… Nude glosses

Lunch time treat… Barry M Limited Edition Nail Paint

They’ve done it again. Another stunning colour from nail polish supremo Barry M.

As the summer vibe continues, this pot’s all you need for funky, fresh, summery nails.

The pinky/lilac shade has the WOW factor, it caught my eye as soon as I stepped foot down the make up aisle and the gold “blinging” lid make it look much more expensive than it really is. As with Barry Nail Paints the consistency is rather thin, but I find they’re a dream to apply, unlike thick and glupey alternatives. It dries really quick and is best applied with a base and top coat.

Here’s a quick swatch on my thumb.

My only gripe, it doesn’t have a beautiful name to match, instead it’s known as Limited Edition 030 (I reckon that’s code for Drop Dead GORGEOUS). For £2.99 it’s top of my summer steals, and right now available 3 for 2 at Boots.

Girls, you know where you’re going for lunch!

Coming soon: 17 Miami Pop Summer Collection

When it comes to the weather I’m typically British. The first sign of some sun and I’m digging out the flip flops, searching for summer dresses and getting excited over summery make up.  With summer just around the corner, I’m getting hot under the collar about upcoming collections. I’ve already blogged about Mac’s surf baby, next on my lust list is 17’s uber cool Miami Pop collection.

Inspired by Miami’s Ocean Drive, this is all about bronzed skin and a pop of bright colour.

Bright, tropical, summery and aptly named Miami Pop, the new upcoming limited edition summer range from 17 mixes neon metallic bronze tones with on trend brights and vivid neons.

The range includes vinyl nail polishes, a volumising mascara which promises to give you thick ‘wow’ lashes and a weightless ‘skin adapting’ SPF15 foundation, but for me, the jewel in the crown is the Miami Pop Bronzer, a gold, baked bronzer with a marbled shimmer.

It’s fun, it’s bright, it just screams summer. Available at Boots from 17th June 11 £2.99-£6.49
